THE 6 BOYS AND GIRLS SELECTED IN THE NORTHWEST MACRO AREA
Here are the 20 selected young players for the 2021 Little Tennis Champions Summer Master! After the court trials for the residents of the macro area (Piedmont, Lombardy, Liguria and Aosta Valley) and through the applications received by the rest of Italy, the I Tennis Foundation commission, composed of coaches and experts of the sector, has deliberated the names of the 10 girls and 10 boys who will take part in the Master from June 30 to July 25.
Through the ISEE (Indicator of the Equivalent Economic Situation) and a series of scores given by the commission – who expressed its opinion on both the technical & tactical and the attitudinal aspects of the candidates – the 20 young Italian prospects who will inaugurate I Tennis Campus have been chosen, in accordance with the preannounced subdivision. That is 6 players coming from the macro area, 2 from the North, 4 from the Centre, 5 from the South and 3 from Sardinia.
Pending the presentation before the press scheduled for July 2 at the Circolo della Stampa Sporting in Turin (at 11:30), let us start discovering who the twenty 2008-born boys and girls able to qualify for the Summer Master are. In alphabetical order, here is the girls’ roster: Sabrina Baranovschi, Valeria Barlini Pischedda, Matilde Licia Bianchi, Azzurra Cremonini, Alessandra Fiorillo, Matilde Iezza, Gaia Leo, Silvia Maffi, Katia Piazza e Alessia Sbrana.
The boys’ expedition is composed of Alessandro Bazzini, Mattia Bille, Gabriel Deza Huete, Loris Mencarelli, Nicolas Francesco Nocolaescu, Federico Pugliese, Christian Sala, Aleksej Sarritzu, Leonardo Spano ed Edoardo Tasca.
10 are the regions represented (3 players each for Piedmont, Sicily and Sardinia) and 15 the hometowns involved (leading them with 2 players each Turin, Rome, Cagliari and Livorno).
The youngest female player is the Turinese Matilde Iezza, born November 8, and the “oldest” the Tarantine Gaia Leo, who celebrates her birthday January 5. Among the boys the youngest is Mattia Bille from Vicenza (December 22), while the “old man” of the group is Loris Mencarelli from Rome (March 8).
A round of applause to all the boys and girls who applied, taking a chance and demonstrating to have a boundless passion for this sport.
We are sure that your path and your growth will not stop here. And that we will find you again, even more ready and combative, at the final selections in 2022.
