At the ITF J30 in Livorno, the I Tennis Foundation team signed another star-studded week. Second consecutive success, in fact, in the girls’ singles for Francesca Galli, just back from her victory in Cuneo. The 2008-born, number 1 in the seeding, lost only one set during the tournament (in the quarterfinals). She then imposed herself with a clear 6-1/6-0 in the final against the other Italian Gloria De Santis.
Excellent tournament also for the 2009-born Martina Cerbo, defeated in the quarters by the future finalist herself.
On the other hand, Mattia Cappellari came close to winning his second consecutive title in the boys’ draw, after having raised the winner’s trophy in Cuneo, he had to “settle” for second place in Livorno. Clear path to the final for Mattia (4 wins, 8 sets won and none lost), then surprised in the final act by the main draw number 4 Simone Massellani.
In the doubles, quarterfinals for the Cappellari-Gribaldo duo in the boys’, and semifinals for the Cerbo-Galli pair in the girls’, lost by a whisker at the decisive tie-break.
