Matteo Gribaldo continues to make waves on the international youth circuit. The 2008 class from Montecatini, already the Italian Under 16 champion last December, began 2025 with a series of outstanding results that propel him directly into the top 300 of the ITF Under 18 rankings – 213 the new best ranking – thus marking a new important milestone in his young career.
Gribaldo, a scholarship holder of the Intesa Sanpaolo Assicurazioni Little Tennis Champions charity program promoted by the I Tennis Foundation, collected two doubles finals in the ITF J100 and J60 tournaments in Antalya and a semifinal at the prestigious J300 in Vrsar, Croatia, where he won seven consecutive matches, including three qualifying rounds, stopping only against No. 11 seed Nikita Bilozertsev.
This result comes in confirmation of the continuous and structured growth of the young Tuscan, which began in 2024 with the final of the Tennis Europe Grade 1 “Internazionali d’Italia U16” tournament, passing through 3 titles in doubles at ITF level, the final of the ITF J100 tournament in Palermo and the title of Italian champion. A path of growth supported by great teamwork between a team of FITP federal professionals – who followed him to Croatia – the internationally renowned team and the internationally renowned coaches of I Tennis Foundation such as Emilio Sanchez, Gipo Arbino, Ivan Ljubicic and Omar Camporese, and his club, TC Pistoia.
Also central is the work done on the mental level thanks to the guidance of Matteo Berrettini’s mental coach Stefano Massari.
“Matteo has reached a significant maturity at the mental level, a crucial element to face challenges,” commented Simone Bongiovanni, co-founder and team manager of the program. “He is making the most of his technical qualities today, which is why together with the board and the technical committee we are proud of his progress.”
With a 2025 calendar full of appointments, Gribaldo confirms himself as one of the most interesting profiles on the Italian youth tennis scene, pursuing with determination his dream of establishing himself in professional tennis as well.
